Honolulu, HI  Jeff Kozlovich is at it again. In support of the Blue Planet Network, a charity dedicated to providing drinkable water to all, the 50-year-old extreme athlete and lifeguard will begin his second Race the Sun adventure on July 11, 2010. The around-the -island, 125 mile race begins at dawn on Magic Island.  

Kozlovich will bike through Honolulu, across Oahu's south shore then up the west side of the island to the end of the road where he will carry his bike over 5 miles of trail. At that point, he will continue his ride across the North Shore and down the east side to the Makai Pier. He'll trade his bike for his paddleboard and paddle past Makapu'u, Sandy Beach, Hanauma Bay, Portlock, Kahala, Diamond Head and arrive back at Magic Island - all before sunset.

Kozlovich is attempting to bike, hike, pedal, paddle, and sail 2,817 miles in one year to raise funds for the Blue Planet Network. Inspired by Katie Spotz, 21-who rowed 2,817 miles across the Atlantic and raised $100,000 for clean drinking water, Kozlovich challenged himself to match her mileage and raise $25,000 before he turns 51 in March of 2011.  For more information, to make a contribution and to get real time updates the day of the race, go to: www.kozhawaii.com.     

The Blue Planet Network is a collaborative of experts and communities working with the Peer Water Exchange to provide water and sanitation projects to 22 countries. Begun in 2002, the Blue Planet Network founded the Blue Planet Run in 2007. The 15,200 mile run happens over 95 days. The Blue Planet Network partners with 63 members in 22 countries to fund more than $25 million in water and sanitation projects. With just $30, the Blue Planet Network is able to provide enough clean water and sanitation to last a single person a lifetime.  Each day, over 6000 people worldwide die from lack of access to clean water.

Jeff Kozlovich, 50, is an extreme athlete, lifeguard and personal trainer based in Honolulu, Hawaii. He acted as paddleboard support for long distance opoen water swimmer, Penny Palfrey, in her attempt to swim from Oahu to Kaua’i earlier this year.  He has also competed in many endurance and distance adventures. His 2,817 mile quest for water will include multiple “Race the Sun” challenges as well as other long-distance activities with support from his sponsors McCully Bike and Giant Bicycles.
